Can you see Messi in the Europe Conference League Chucky? π
It’s PSG or City, let’s face it. Reunion with Neymar or with Pep. A PSG deal would be potentially bad for Utd as I doubt they’d then have enough to bring Pogba in, meaning we’d almost certainly lose him on a free next year.

5th August 2021 at 8:05 pm #182278Including Girlish, this brings Pepe up to a whopping 918 million pounds spent on transfer fees since he joined Money City….

He will probably go to PSG or one of the top 4 PL Clubs.

5th August 2021 at 8:24 pm #182281How well have Villa handled the Grealish transfer not only with the release clause built in to his contract but with Christian Purlow explaining the whole situation to the Villa fans, plus Villa strengthened by signing three players before releasing Grealish so they wouldn’t be held to ransom on incomings. All Clubs could learn from how Villa handled this one.

Easyier league. Near guuaranteed success. But one question. Is Pochettino strong enough or will Neymar pick the team etc?Grealish has signed imo so he can work with Pep who will, almost certainly, improve him as a player. With him and Sterling there will be too much going over for free kicks….which I hate.
Lets wait for more rubbish from the usual hypocrits about spending etc.
PS FROM a FFP type perspective NET spend is significant.
My understanding of player cost and sales is that cost is amortised over the period of the contract. So Β£100m over 6 years means an annual charge of Β£17m approx each year. Profits on disposals (or losses) are taken to P&L in the year of disposal lessening the impact of player costs. Disposals also release salary costs again lessening the impact of a heavy spend.Having said all that Β£100m is crazy! Nuts!

Adlab, I’m not sure even Poch could mess up the league title challenge this season if they get Messi. He already managed to fail to win a one team league last season and then failed to win the French version of the Community Shield after PSG had won the last 8 in a row!

5th August 2021 at 10:12 pm #182288Adlab, doing ok buddie thanks for asking good day today, it’s a bit up and down with a few bad days grouped together every cycle but the good thing is for every three or four bad days there are circa 17/18 good days every cycle and that’s a great ratio imo and hopefully it stays like that.
We were due to go down to Cornwall with friends in September but we’ve had to cancel that because my immune system is so low and because how I might be is so unpredictable.
I’ve had two treatments now so another 8 to go up to the beginning of December if I can stay at this level and the Chemo does it job I will be delighted. Cheers 9’s

5th August 2021 at 10:34 pm #182289Adlab @ 9:27,
You’re finishing line of the post, and that was exactly what I was alluding to.
I wasn’t aware of Man City’s recent transactions. If everything’s been done by the book, there shouldn’t be any qualms.
But pinpointing really on how far do we stretch? The answer to that is and has always been what the club is prepared to pay. Liverpool have been a history of this in the 80s, Man United in the 90s. Definitely double-standards to be criticizing other clubs. But it’s the scale more that anything.
Maybe not so much sub-standard, but there are average players on the circuit where their value is not a true reflection of what they’re really worth, but otherwise inflated to try and either deter clubs from buying or essentially play ransom.
Here’s to another season battle mate.

6th August 2021 at 1:40 am #182292Quite possibly the most absurd transfer I’ve ever seen, maybe Coutinho just beats it, but Grealish is right up there.
For all of City’s spending under Pep, none of them have really been this outrageous. As I said in a previous post, in this area of the field they already have, Mahrez, Foden, Jesus, Sterling, Gundogan, KDB, Torres, Silva, all of which I rate as being far better footballers than Grealish. If he was 21 and still developping I’d maybe understand, but he’s nearly 26 FFS. Crazy stuff!_____________________________

6th August 2021 at 4:56 am #182294Sorry Adders, but if you think it’s bad now, wait until Pepe La Pank hits the 1 Billion Pounds mark, we’ll all be throwing a party and helping you tell the universe what a brilliant manager he is…

Definitely a bonkers fee but as always we all have to accept that while we think we may know best it’s always the Managers call and if Pep thinks Grealish will add to his team it’s a big call but it’s his big call and that’s what they get paid the big bucks for and as always they are judged on how it all eventually works out.
Anyway I read that Pep was planning to change Grealish’d position and play him in midfield?

6th August 2021 at 8:32 am #182300Puppy, I wouldn’t worry too much about poor Pepe’s stress levels, if it doesn’t work out the way he’s planned it, he’ll just go out and buy somebody else.
Although I must say it’s jolly sporting for them to buy Girlish so somebody is there to lace Messi’s boots! π
