Nine…I think you are right about one thing, IF he buys Grealish it will not be for CL priority, that is, if,that is the case and I do not believe it is. CL, I am sure the owners want it, I am sure Pep would like it for City but the players on the pitch did not want it enough. I think Pep made a tactical mistake in the Final but it was still up to the players to fulfil that plan, they must have trained for it although you would not have thought so on the day. If Pep gives me another EPL and FA Cup that more than compensates for the CL for my own preference but plenty of others will be after same pots as well. I do not expect anything at the start of the season, ask me next may!!!

31st July 2021 at 8:25 pm #182154Strikers? We have done without them for two seasons now , I do believe we need one but he has to fit the collective plan of pep. I do not believe Kane does this, Grealish is not a striker, Jesus scores more goals but we do need something different up front. Torres can be a great player for us who can also score. Gungdogan is not a striker but scores 17 goals last season. Foden will blossom next season. I actually do not think we are that short of firepower, the stats will prove that but we were less clinical last season on the chances created. I am also hoping our defence is just as mean as ever as well

31st July 2021 at 8:29 pm #182155Mikus, yeah I remember that I believe Mubarack said that post winning the PL last season and prior to last season’s CL Final I think we would all want our Chairman to say that. I know I would.
I don’t disagree that City want to win the CL and rightly so imo I just think they’re looking to buy Grealish to strengthen the side overall in pursuit of all 4 trophies again that’s all which again may leave them slightly disadvantaged at the end of the season chasing too many trophies when other Club’s in the CL can prioritise just that.

The scots started their new season programme yesterday, so there’ll be a game on sky later today.

2nd August 2021 at 8:58 am #182163Starting to look like there’s a good chance Harry is staying… which means I’m going to have to change all my passwords back… (you’d think he’s mucking me about on purpose or something!)
And Silly-Willy-Nilly, couldn’t agree more mate, I know exactly what you mean, I couldn’t care less if LiVARberoOol’s win nothing forever… you’ve got enough in the cupboard as it is!

2nd August 2021 at 12:11 pm #182165Can’t see how City can sign both Grealish and Kane given their likely fees without a significant sale or sales?
Spurs can hold Kane to his contract but there’s little point in trying to hang on to a player who has made it plain he doesn’t want to be there.

2nd August 2021 at 12:51 pm #182168Of course, we’ll all assume he is actually “on-strike” and not “having COVID tests” somewhere… makes better headlines… 🙂

2nd August 2021 at 3:13 pm #182169Chuky, whatever the reason, Covid has a lot to answer for!!!!! I am delighted if you you keep him though, he is not the answer to our prayers and think we could do better. I think City may reduce the price now though so Mr Levy can lock the door, never mind Spurs will beat city 2-0 in the opener and Kane will score one. We do not wake up until a few games in

2nd August 2021 at 6:06 pm #182170Double B, that’s him in trouble then, as I don’t want to see him in a Spud shirt again. He’s been “engineering” this for months, ad if he thinks I’m buying any of this “respect” the fan’s BS, then he’s only confirming that all footballers are as dumb as Buffy after three packets of Refreshers and a can of Red Bull.

2nd August 2021 at 6:40 pm #182171Very difficult transfer to happen.
City won’t pay the stupid money Levy will ask for which is likely to be circa £150m.
I can still see Kane at Spurs next season because I can’t see City reaching a sensible agreement with Levy.
How smart it is to try and hang on to a player who wants to be somewhere else by putting a ridiculously hefty price on his head is something that Spurs need to consider carefully
imo ultimately these situations rarely end with the player staying medium to long term against his will and this Summer will almost certainly be Spurs best chance of getting the best possible fee for Kane._____________________________

Similarly Nine, how smart is signing a 6yr contract at a club well known for being also-rans if you have such lofty ambitions and little desire to honour it?
There’s been loads of reports over the last couple of days suggesting a move for Kane would be almost impossible for City if they do manage to secure Grealish at £100mil. If there’s any truth in that, who exactly does he think is coming in for him. City are his only option so, unless he knows those reports are a load of rubbish, he’s not been very bright the way he’s gone about this. Whatever happens now, he’s tarnished his legacy.

2nd August 2021 at 7:51 pm #182173Lots of ways of looking at this, on one hand, a player signs a contract and that should be honoured unless there is a mutual agreement to finish it. I am surprised that Kane was banking on a Gentlemans agreement with Levy. Another view is Levy is cutting off his nose to spite his face because he knows that future offers, whenever that is, will be well below his inflated price and once City drop out, it will fall even quicker. For 150 millions you could get two really good players who will do a job up front, there is no guarantee Kane will continue his form. I can understand Spurs fans being upset, but this is football and if that was me I would not even be thinking of medals but the financial future of my family, so, yes…money does talk but if the reason is right there is no disgrace in that. I just wish some of these football players would be honest and not afraid to say why they are wanting a move, I do not believe it is all about medals, at least for some but I suppose it may well be the case for others

2nd August 2021 at 8:13 pm #182174Totally agree with all that Ed but in fairness to Kane at the time he signed that contract Spurs were in a very different place to where they are now they were a CL Club back then now they are a Europa Conference League Club.
You would think in Kane doing what he is doing which is extreme he knows that City want to buy him Kane’s problem is City probably won’t want to buy him for the price Levy wants.
Is he going about it the right way? No he’s not but he clearly believes this is the only way he can force an exit from Spurs.
He has tarnished his legacy at Spurs but in 334 games he’s scored 220 goals for Spurs but won 0 trophies rightly or wrongly he’s probably thinking more about winning trophies going forwards than his Spurs legacy.

2nd August 2021 at 9:26 pm #182175Yes fair points Nine about where Spurs were as a club when he signed.
Interesting to see how this develops now that it’s being reported that he’ll be fined. Could get ugly quickly.
