Sean…a PS…I do like what you say about admiring a player that stays with the club a long time, I would agree with that, we have had recent ones like Augerro, Silva but I will always remember Alan Oakes best uncapped defensive midfielder City had with a wonderful record of appearances, plus my own hero frank Swift, interrupted by the war years. Your Billy Liddell must be close to an appearance record

31st July 2021 at 12:02 pm #182126Everyone suffers injuries that’s why Clubs have large square Rashford for instance is already out until October and the season hasn’t even kicked off yet, last season was an unusual one for Liverpool I can’t see them suffering the same sort of injures this season the VVD injury was a one off and he’s integral to Liverpool.
Liverpool have a great Coach and a very good squad I think they’ll make at least one signing between now and the close of the transfer window probably a midfielder and they will be competitive again this season I really can’t see them having a season like they did last season.
Liverpool’s problem is medium to long term if the other top Clubs keep spending and buying better players and Liverpool struggle to keep up with that spending. If City sign Grealish this Summer he will improve them this season imo.
It’s not impossible but it will be tough for anyone to finish above City again this season if anyone does that they are likely to be Champions.

31st July 2021 at 12:08 pm #182127I actually don’t think he will improve City. I think City will improve him, but not the other way around. I would rate, Foden, KDB, Mahrez, Jesus, Gundogan as all far better players than Grealish.
I will be really shocked if Pep goes for Grealish

31st July 2021 at 12:18 pm #182128Perhaps we could do without input from Klopp. If we sign Grealish so be it.
Personally I dont think he is better than what we have unless Pep finds something different._____________________________

31st July 2021 at 12:21 pm #182129Itโs an interesting thought Foxy. I think the problem for City is that they are reacting to another disappointment in failing to land the CL and are now desperate to find ways to win it by bringing in more stars. But not sure thatโs the answer.

31st July 2021 at 12:28 pm #182130Pep is one of the best in the business if not the best if the media are all collectively right and Pep highly rates and wants Grealish I wouldn’t question Pep’s judgement.
No guarantees wth transfers though no matter the player and how much you pay for them.
Adlab your remark on re Klopp’s I think they were old comments dug up re Coutinho.

31st July 2021 at 12:28 pm #182131Well Foxy, prepared to be shocked as Pep is going for Grealish. His game would be brilliant in a possession based team like City. Can keep the ball really well and is so creative. Yes ยฃ100m is a bit of a bonkers fee, but they will recoup a lot of this by selling a first team player (like Sterling or B Silva) and some fringe players (like Mendy or Zinchenko). I don’t think that’s too much of a stretch.

31st July 2021 at 12:28 pm #182132Torres and Sterling play weโre grealish does.
I think Torres will be much better this season for city
Heโs an excellent player but 100m is crazy money.
Ye agree nine. City favourites again but I think utd be up there. The two signings massively improves their 1st 11

31st July 2021 at 12:55 pm #182133I would love to read Pep’s response to your assertion Mikus. I think it would be pretty much unprintable.๐

Not having a go mate but I think all Pep is doing is trying to improve his team so they can challenge for all 4 trophies again this season.
Where would we all be without City they always provide us all with something to talk about.๐

31st July 2021 at 1:24 pm #182136I merely expressed an opinion Nine, of which I may or may not be wrong. I haven’t confirmed the figures, but obviously Pep has spent a lot since he was appointed. Domestically it’s arguably paid off, and I don’t doubt Peps talent. However, he has clearly grappled more in the CL and I think if City are to win that, he needs to better adapt to it, as opposed to spending more money.

31st July 2021 at 1:26 pm #182137AnonymousNever mind Pep if I believe Grealish is good enough for City then you can be assured he is. As far as United is concerned and all those expensive signings they done and still will do I predict they will win the Carabao cup. Let’s be fair.

31st July 2021 at 1:47 pm #182139Mikus, historically we both know that it’s not always the best team that wins the CL as Liverpool proved in 2005 and Chelsea proved in 2012.
I agree it is all about opinions it would be boring if we all saw things the same way that’s what makes the site what it is and I truly respect you as a top poster on here.
Personally I don’t think Pep is looking to buy Grealish to win City the CL I don’t think Pep thinks like that at the start of each season he priorities all 4 trophies and tries to win everything which is why City are the only team to do the domestic treble. Competing in the latter stages of 3/4 trophies when other Club’s may not be could be City’s Achilles heel re winning the CL.
That’s just my opinion though buddie and it doesn’t mean I’m right.
I would say though that Grealish has yet to even play in the CL and it’s probably would be asking too much of him to think he could be the difference between City winning the CL or not.
But you never know everyone was writing Havertz off mid season and he proved the difference for Chelsea when winning the CL in May that and a delicious ball from Mount.๐

31st July 2021 at 1:50 pm #182141If we sign Grealish then we will get more free kicks as he goes over far too easily for me.
What we really need is a striker._____________________________

And not just City Adlab.๐
Problem is though Adlab there are very few top strikers and they are very difficult to buy!

31st July 2021 at 6:19 pm #182148No worries Nine. Just to better back up what I thought, it was based on part of this statement on 1st June, by the Man City chairman who said the following:
โHaving won the league, it is not the time to sit back and be content. That would be your biggest mistake.
โThis is the time to send a strong message, that there’s no contentment, that you’re not satisfied with just winning the league.
I think City clearly want the CL, and you can obviously understand why in that it helps put them more on the map of Europeโs biggest clubs. Grealish may well help them do that, though I agree with Adlab in that a striker is probably needed more. But I think what is more important is that Pep needs to better adapt to the competition tactically. Philosophically, he is undoubtedly one of the best. But tactically, I think he has made the wrong calls in certain CL games, as weโve discussed on here before.

31st July 2021 at 7:48 pm #182150I sincerely hope we take the Title off Man City. Don’t ever want Man United winning it until we’re on 22.
Don’t really feel that much of botheration from others.
Transfer Speculation is a drag and I’m Happy staying away from the fatigue of it all.
I’m liking our new Red Shirt – let’s get the right fit ๐
