15th January 2021 at 9:09 pm #173865Pagan, both the Strat which is a Custom shop Strat and Telecaster are iconic Guitars mate played by many of the greatest Guitar players of all time but most Guitarists like variation Hendrix main Guitar was a Strat for instance but he also played the Flying V.
If you’re a famous Guitarist then the worlds you’re Oyster and most have a varied collection of many different Guitars but Gilmour and Clapton have played Strats for years now and Keith Richards a Telecaster.
Dave Gilmours favourite Black Strat went for over 3m dollars at a his Charity Auction in NY in 2019.
As well as the Strat and Telecaster I’m lucky enough to own a PRS a Tay!or Acoustic and a Les Paul Black Beauty too so I’m very fortunate but I’ve always got room for another one though.๐

15th January 2021 at 9:22 pm #1738679, no doubting the heritage of fender, but for the heavier side of rock the humbucker is god. Van Halen with is frankenstrat and Dave Murray of Iron Maiden are two examples of guitarists that want the strat experience but with the heavier sound and have modified the electronics….Pagan

15th January 2021 at 9:39 pm #1738689, electric guitar wise I started with a Westbury Standard, took ages to save up for as a 12/13 year old. I then had a little collection, Ibinez Iceman, Gibson Explorer, and an Ibinez Destroyer, which is the only one I have left, sold the Explorer when I stopped playing in bands and gave the Westbury away to a young lad who was saving up fo a guitar. Always wanted a Jackson V……Pagan

15th January 2021 at 10:55 pm #1738719, the iceman looked fantastic, and was great to play, but I had to change the original machine heads as it wouldnโt hold tune, apparently that was standard for them.
Still got my Marshall 100w superlead and 4×12 angle cab in the loft, never use it but canโt seem to get round to selling it.Planet rock on in the background and Rory Gallagher on, great guitar player, he played a strat, and was buried with Eddie Van Halenโs original yellow and black frankenstrat..
