“Bit too late for all that Adlab.”
I know this was tongue in cheek but its never too late. brexit cant be changed but the narrative can be influenced.

22nd December 2020 at 2:20 am #172639Anonymous“Brexit is primarily a reaction against a liberal order now in intellectual decline. ”
I dont know if you’re touching on the anti-intellectual movement that has swept the west over the past few years , or if you’re suggesting ineptitude. I think either could be correct TBH .

22nd December 2020 at 10:45 am #172655Mikus, @ 5:26 yesterday, perfect summary for me. Blair seemed to want our State to be Globalists, and Socialists.
It’s no wonder we are where we are and at a point where we’re going to be struggling to stand up on our on two feet.
In principle, I have no problem joining forces and working with Europe. There is scope. Over the last 25 years or so however, I’ve seen this country effectively finished. We’ve become a dumbed down society with human values and work ethic lost.
The Pandemic hit home and reality where you would think people’s attitudes would change, but it’s still ‘me, me, me,’.
We sold out our Industries in the Uk. We have a lot more when in came to Manufacturing, Production, and Hosiery. Why are our House Prices ridiculously high? Very rare now for anybody to be able to get on the housing ladder without having large savings and some help from the government.
The Education System now feels more dumbed down than ever. We have a lazy culture relying on technology and completely ignorant of a pen and a piece of paper.
The Welfare system is under more pressure than ever as we have uncontrolled immigration. When does this all stop and change, it really is soul destroying to think.

22nd December 2020 at 11:08 am #172656AnonymousNil… “We have uncontrolled immigration.” No.. This is a lie.. It is wrong. It has been disproved for years and years, and years. It was repeatedly used by Nigel Farrage and the conservatives, or those harbouring racist views of foreigners who come to the UK with Anti EU sentiment. That they deplete the welfare services that Liverpool so desperately needs. 😉
FYI: Not dubbed down statistics produced by British people of all ages, races and colours.

22nd December 2020 at 11:16 am #172657AnonymousWill of the people. If you use this term in your day to day life, shoot yourself.
There is nothing fair about the way the vote was carried out. ie, Russia funding the leave campaign, USA funding the leave campaign, and the whole Cambridge analytica scandal that has not yet been fully unearthed. (Its a company that uses very precise data to influence elections globally, to the detriment of the host country), It was used in Africa, USA and UK and they were available to the highest bidder.
Anyhow, yes, lets respect democracy and start lobbying to re-join Europe on January the 1st… and if we’re talking numbers, Covid will have cleared out a large proportion of remainers.

Good idea 442 then we could be like the SNP who want to keep voting for Independence until the get the result they want.
Not sure how Covid clearing out a large proportion of remainers helps the case to remain in the EU though.😊

22nd December 2020 at 1:00 pm #172665Mak, I’m referring to a liberal order (represented by both main parties) that is failing on its own terms. The egalitarian education system only advantages children who happen to live in rich areas, the mass drive to university has saddled a generation with large debts with not much to show for in the standard of qualifications, the law and order again is failing in poor areas where crime is failing to be deterred because the police no longer patrol the streets on foot and there are very soft punishments, and the economy continues to only work for the rich and those who have assets vs everybody else all the while the national debt continues to balloon.

6th January 2021 at 11:09 am #173363In my view there was always going to be a deal of some kind without compromising our Red lines of self Governance again. It is up to us now, nobody else. If yet another war breaks out in years to come , they will blame us but still ask for our help

6th January 2021 at 9:54 pm #173400I don’t know how people can somehow place the blame of our current situation of Covid19 onto Brexit as I heard on the Radio this afternoon, or Brexit affecting Mental Health.
The Country is trying to move forward and it’s hard enough with everything going on.

14th January 2021 at 4:12 pm #173787Nike… that is the heart of the problem….people would rather blame Brexit for letting somebody score a goal against there team rather than respect what has be done, agreed and voted on. The word Brexit should never be used again…it is over

14th January 2021 at 4:38 pm #173788But Brian vote Leave was founded on lies. 75million Turks coming to the UK etc etc.
I will never forgive those perpetrators of lies. Those who genuinely believed it was right to leave, I have no problem with that. I just don’t agree. Too many voted to kick the government of the day and many were ignorant of the ramifications never mind being racist…ie foreigners taking our jobs etc even though we won’t do those jobs ourselves.
How many understood comparative advantage, the concepts of trade etc. I did 3 years at university getting an economics degree and still the concepts are difficult to understand. Johnson and Co just have an ideology and bugger the rest. 😀_____________________________

14th January 2021 at 5:13 pm #173789Adlab, I was a Remainer too mate but it’s time to turn the page what’s done is done and you can’t put the milk back in the bottle. We now have to get on with it and make it as successful as we can as a country.

14th January 2021 at 5:34 pm #173790AnonymousBrian.. Stick your fingers in your ears and bury your head in the sand. See the report yesterday about Norther Irelands empty shelves? Brexit will be reversed or we’ll see a unified Ireland. (and if your a Northern Irish person, make the most of the opportunity) and Scotland Indy 2 will eventually happen. Thats the break up of the UK… Brexit is going to impact people for years to come. Dont be ignorant to the younger generations wishes.
The demographic who voted for Brexit will also die off over the next five/ ten years. Ergo… we’ll be negotiating for better terms with Europe within five years as per the departure agreement… we will rejoin id say in 15 years time.
The younger generations will love the idea of effortless visa free travel, right to reside without having to leave every 3 months, and of course, access to Cheaper better standards of living, free trade, and just about everything generationally we’ve been told is all wrong with Europe, funnily enough by elites from Oxford University who haven’t been able to come to a decision about it for 40 years.

14th January 2021 at 5:47 pm #173792This is a sensitive subject and getting to drawn into discussing politics on a football forum can cause unneccessary conflict especially if posters can’t state their views reasonably.
Whatever the subject being discussed on a forum there has to be respect for another posters point of view and not insults.

14th January 2021 at 6:48 pm #173797Completely echo Nine’s post here. Not all that keen on this type of thread in the first place as it’s arguably even more divisive than football.
Happy to leave it up if everyone can debate this in a civil way. For now, I’ve deleted a part of 442s last post that overstepped the mark a tad.
Pull each other up on points and put across your arguments, by all means, but try to avoid the name calling and accusations.
