21st October 2023 at 5:23 pm #210279I remember even as a kid growing up in the 1980s, Bobby Charlton would be a figure that you would Respect and look up to. Somebody who exhibited decorum and discipline.
Very sad news.
Rest In Peace Sir Bobby

21st October 2023 at 5:39 pm #210281Nicely put Nil
Only English player to win the European Cup, World Cup and Balon d’Or. Survived the Munich air disaster. Did it all and won it all. Took decades for someone to break his goalscoring record for club and country.
His presence at the club and the support he gave during Ferguson early difficult years made the club what it is today. Something the club will never replace.
Remarkable achievement on and off the pitch.
Thank you Sir Bobby for putting smiles on so many faces and not quitting the game when the club needed you the most.
Thoughts go out to his family.
RIP Legend.

23rd October 2023 at 5:54 am #210303City having to come out yesterday and apologise because a group of their fans were filmed singing songs about Bobby being “in a box” after his passing? Seriously, what is wrong with people?!

23rd October 2023 at 10:39 am #210305Why don’t all clubs get together and put forward to the authorities to have in place new laws? Is society really that disgusting that they can’t show any decency and respect?
Pep’s tribute was kind and respectful.
The news broke around the 3 pm games Saturday and I remember also seeing on Twitter LFC’s own tribute to Sir Bobby’s Family and Manchester United.
Those de-generators even if they are a minority cannot be in the same bracket as other Manchester City supporters. They should be simply banned if caught and educated.

23rd October 2023 at 8:44 pm #210307I remember in my younger and tribal days, you’d still develop seeing even older Man Utd players under a tribal lens. But I never could with Sir Bobby. He was just too much of a gentleman to develop any kind of tribal dislike towards him. Humble and modest to the core. Listening to some of the stories tonight on the local BBC news, he really was the gentleman’s gentleman. Some great stories in the following link, particularly the one about the mechanic from the Lada dealership.

23rd October 2023 at 8:59 pm #210309Exactly right Mikus. I have a memory possibly about 30 years ago of a Soccer School Programme on Tv involving Bobby Charlton. I think it could have been with Ryan Giggs or his own programme. He was such a good striker of the ball and his delivery and technique was consistent.
He exhibited exceptional conduct and professionalism.
We won’t see many professionals and humans like this coming through I don’t think in our modern society
