ok, so few questions around this!
firstly, why?Do the mighty Barca not have attacking options left in the squad after 2 injuries? or their B team or youngesters???
if they have been allowed to do this why cant the spuds?
whats the nonsense about 300m euro buy out clause?!
so Barca get an attacker and a relegatioon team lose an attacker, nice!

20th February 2020 at 1:14 pm #72584It’s within La Liga’s rules for Barca to be able to do this it’s not within the PL rules for such a move by a PL Club.

20th February 2020 at 1:40 pm #72601I don’t think Braithwaite will be eligible to play in the CL. Those Shadows are getting everywhere.?

20th February 2020 at 3:49 pm #72665It’s obviously a huge story here in Denmark. Yep! It’s the guy who used to play at M’boro.
It’s completely within the rules in Spain this transfer. And here in Denmark it seems to be the opinion in general (and I agree) that MB is a solid player but nowhere near good enough to be material for a top 3 club in one of the big leagues. He did well with Toulouse in France and I think he captained them. M’boro wasn’t very good, but he has done well at Leganes, but the jump to Barcelona is just a massive one.
MB won the lottery, but I bet Barcelona will sell him again in the summer._____________________________

20th February 2020 at 5:01 pm #726969, he may be able to play in the CL as if you changed clubs in January this year you weren’t cup tied for European competitions….Pagan

20th February 2020 at 5:07 pm #72701It seems Leganes are pretty pissed about this being possible for Barcelona to do.

20th February 2020 at 5:48 pm #72720Don’t think so Pagan registrations of the CL squads had to be completed by the Clubs participating in the knock out stages of the CL by Feb 3rd according to UEFA see the relevant UEFA rule below:
“Clubs must communicate their desired squad changes by 24:00 CET on Monday 3 February at the latest. Once all teams’ changes are approved by UEFA in each competition, the full list of ins and outs will be published on UEFA.com.”

Understandably so because Leganes inexplicably aren’t allowed to sign a replacement player for Braithwaite.

20th February 2020 at 5:53 pm #727269, the 3rd of Feb makes sense as it ties into not being cup tied for the Jan registration …Pagan

20th February 2020 at 7:34 pm #7277627, can you explain HTF they can sign a player, while we can’t and nor can Leganes as I wasn’t aware this was possible ??
Is it a just a rule in Spain or are there other leagues that can do this ?_____________________________

As 27 said only in Spain could a rule like this apply ,just makes a nonsense of the transfer window ,I bet Mr Levy isn’t skipping to work this morning._____________________________

21st February 2020 at 7:40 am #73126farcical that they are allowed this, at the cost of a relegation threatened club and they then not allowed a replacement, shocking and shows how corrupt varios clubs are, all be it within “rules”..

21st February 2020 at 7:42 am #73127The rule is the fault of La Liga perhaps UEFA should get involved but they are seemingly a bit busy currently.?
It is wholly wrong that Barca’s squad problems due to the long term injury to two players should be passed on to Leganes who are not allowed to sign a replacement for Braithwaite and it might well cost them their place in La Liga where they were already fighting a relegation battle and with such a rule if Leganes were allowed to sign a replacement there is a knock on effect and where does it stop.
You would hope La Liga do the right thing and scrap the rule from next season.
