Did any of us see that coming? (See what I did there?)
Love him of loathe him, no denying he has been a legend to both his club and English Football in general, and I’m going to miss him somewhat, always good for a source of personal amusement.
I wonder who’ve they got lined up?

20th April 2018 at 11:03 am #20701Wenger’s been a great Manager but he should have gone a while ago and all the empty seats at the Emirates sent a loud message to both him and the Board.
Be great if Wenger could go out on a high by winning the EL and if Arsenal can get past Atletico he well might.

20th April 2018 at 11:14 am #20702Should have gone 10 years or so ago. They need someone like Simeone,Sarri,or Tuchel and conduct a revolution. Can he take Jose with him please? They are both way,way past their era.

20th April 2018 at 12:50 pm #20705Naturally the interweb (at least the footy side of things) are all over this, with lots of comments etc…
One place is currently having a bit of a Wenger Best 11 competition, and I think it’s a sign of the times there isn’t a single player from the last 5/7 years mentioned anywhere…

20th April 2018 at 1:24 pm #20708AnonymousAn old fart who like certain other managers more concerned about themselves than the club. You cannot fool people forever.

20th April 2018 at 2:00 pm #20714Chucky nice sentiments mate.
Like you and possibly others, didn’t see that coming.
It’s reached a point in essence though where something needed to change because of the decline and a natural conclusion in stepping aside to allow a new person the opportunity.
The squad looks depleted, lots of good players leaving in recent years and more 2nd rate players which the club of this stature and history doesn’t deserve.
I wonder the type of candidates that will be speculated and shortlisted to take over this summer. Would they go to the route of giving somebody like Eddie Howe the opportunity to begin a new era?

20th April 2018 at 8:03 pm #20723Mav, haha, I know what you mean mate.
It’s kind of hard to imagine how one player in Patrick Viera leaving circa 2005 felt like some sort of a catalyst in Arsenal not being able to carry on living up to those heights and standards they set themselves ala the Invincibles.
Bit of memory lane in thinking about that array of top top players like Reyes, Grimandi, Van Bronckhorst, Petit, Bergkamp, Henry, and even Seaman around his prime.
Some very good footballing memories.

20th April 2018 at 9:30 pm #20727Haha, my fave Arsene’s quote and thoughts in Leicester playing for penalties.
I think it was a League Cup game around 1997, 1998. I actually to this day believe him π π

21st April 2018 at 12:22 pm #20738These Comedians have exposed the hypocrisy in the Media an fans alike. Wenger was slated when he was at Arsenal. now that the man said enough is enough and is stepping down. everyone is showering praise on him. despite the man leading a revolution in this league.

21st April 2018 at 12:39 pm #20740The papers suggest today though that Wenger was told to resign or be sacked at the end of the season?

21st April 2018 at 1:07 pm #20741AnonymousI guess the board has had enough too, but respected all he did for them and gave him a way out.
I was reading today that he won 7 FA cups. Amazing achievement, thatβs more times than most clubs have ever won it in their entire history.

21st April 2018 at 1:08 pm #20742AnonymousAnnouncing it now means that the fans can return to the matches and give him a proper send off. He deserves that.
Also, the team may kick on and win the Europa league now.
Lots of players will know that they are playing for their futures. A new man coming in May want a totally different starting eleven.

21st April 2018 at 1:39 pm #20743An incredible FA Cup winning record and unlikely to be beaten by any other Manager now.

22nd April 2018 at 3:27 pm #20824Good win from the Gunners today – set themselves up nicely for their Europa Semi Final tie against Athletico.
I’ve got a funny feeling they’ll at least earn a result at Old Trafford next weekend.
