1st April 2019 at 11:20 am #36599Arguably the best foreign import the league has seen and a the finest example of Wenger’s once unparalleled ability to spot a gem where others couldn’t.

1st April 2019 at 12:59 pm #36608What doesn’t sit with me in all this was he was yet another player who’s head was turned by Barcelona. Ronaldo was the same with Real.
I have more respect for Cantona and Giggsy who stayed at one club and made a success.

1st April 2019 at 2:04 pm #36615Nothing wrong with players having ambition Nil. Check out what they both won following those transfers.

1st April 2019 at 2:10 pm #36617This is a perfect example of a) players who leave clubs being “disloyal” b) players who stay at one club lacking ambition…

1st April 2019 at 2:15 pm #36618There is something that strikes me in all this and that being that over the last 25 years or so, our English league has grown to be the best.
How many times have both Barca and Real been fed?
players coming into our league are far from the finished article but many have proven so be effectively World Class.
David Silva one of the few that has stayed at one club.

Darmian-Bailly-Rojo-Valencia
Bellion-Djembax2-Fellaini-Kleberson
Bebe-Forlan.

1st April 2019 at 2:19 pm #36623Silly-Willy-Silly, don’t understand how you can say that considering Pool’s relationship with Southampton… I think it’s very fair to suggest any player bought from Europe into the Prem has one eye on the Big 2 in Spain from the moment they sign. Bigger clubs fed on smaller clubs, end of story…

The three stand out players in that era Messi, Xavi and Iniesta were all developed in La Masia.

1st April 2019 at 2:49 pm #36634Blimey, you go for a drink at lucnh at look what happens!
he had his turned? when Nil, when he had already given so much to us and turned down many offers and the club and wenger had changed and stopped investing, what happened after our unbeaten PL?
no arsenal fan thinks bad of him for going, and he won with Barca
the man was as loyal as the club allowed him to be ….
he was NOT a mercanary as many are…..and to say Cantona was a one club man is stupid beyond belief!
Sir Harry? The Arsenal fan? lets see how how long he stays winning nothing, you have done well to keep him but will it last? maybe and maybe credit or maybe lack of ambition on his part as many English players have, he gets payed well, is worshipped, the biggest fish in his very small pond (all be it a shiney new pond) but can he COMPETE with better players? Bale tried and he is not well thought of, Linekar did it…very few do and most fail so maybe he likes what he has and being close to family….
Henry is a club legend and well done to him for being smart enough and ambitious enough to want mnore and not ” settle”….
He moved to Barca when 30…the last hurrah
1999–2007
Arsenal
254
(174)
2007–2010
Barcelona
80
(35)Chumps, he was no Bale, he was no Suarez or Torres….

1st April 2019 at 2:52 pm #36635He certainly wasn’t a Gary Bale was he? Gary Bale only won 4 Champions Leagues…
Which also happens to be the same amount as Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Chelsea and YooUtd put together from their entire historys… 🙂
Absolutely not the same level as Terry Henry, is he? 🙂
