16th December 2019 at 2:10 pm #56811not unless you have a link to a story where he has signed?!
talking to someone isnt signing them! no faith in my club at present, we get a glimmer of light (positive after the summer) only for the cluds and fog to descend again!
time will tell

16th December 2019 at 2:17 pm #56814“Arsenal appear to have stepped up their search for Unai Emery’s successor after pictures emerged of the club’s managing director leaving Mikel Arteta’s Manchester mansion in the early hours of Monday morning.
The former Gunners captain, now the assistant manager of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, has been a frontrunner to take the Emirates hot seat following the sacking of Emery over a fortnight ago.
And speculation will now intensify after Vinai Venkatesham was spotted leaving Arteta’s house having held an alleged two-and-a-half hour meeting with the Spanish coach.”
Don’t shoot the messenger Stevo!?

16th December 2019 at 2:17 pm #56815Can’t help feeling Artrta would be a huge gamble, not sure if sitting next to Pep means a great deal in the grand scheme of things. Sure, you can’t get a better apprenticeship anywhere, but there is absolutely no guarantee anything rubbed off…I think the Goonies are in the “need someone who know’s what they’re doing” boat…

16th December 2019 at 2:20 pm #56816……given Arteta was very close last time pre Emery two and a half hours of further face to face meetings with the Arsenal hierarchy suggests that something might be afoot. Time will tell though Stevo. I take it from your reaction you’re not impressed.?

16th December 2019 at 2:29 pm #56817Arsenal managers needs two years. 4 windows to get rid of the absolute shite that stinks the club out.
Your man Pepe might be a good player but his lack of effort yday was a disgrace. He’s been a joke of a signing so far
They need 3 centre backs.
Get Arteta in as at least he will have some passion for the club. At least he will care
Look at big dunc at Everton. That’s passion and loving your club

16th December 2019 at 3:04 pm #56818im not against him per say but im with Nancy on this i think we need a real tried and tested proven manager to sort this shit out, too much for a new person with no experience but if we get him i ope im proved very wrong!

16th December 2019 at 3:12 pm #56819Would be a massive gamble. People thought the same about Steve McClaren, Rene Meuleunsteen, Carlos Queiroz, Mike Phelan, that just because they’d impressed as Ferguson’s number 2,they’d be good managers. Arsenal desperately need to get this one right

16th December 2019 at 3:41 pm #56821Buffy-Arse needs their process of shifting out the deadwood to continue through January and then the summer, with Ozil,Mustafi,Luiz,Xhaka,Socratis, and I would take the money if an offer came in for PEA,too. You had a fantastic summer in terms of getting rid of the shite, just needs to continue. If you look @ teams like Lesta and our lot,you dont need to spend £100m on every player to become a good team,in the case of the Foxy ladies, players like Ndidi,Çağlar Söyüncü,Maddison,Ricardo Pereira,Chilwell, etc, didnt cost a fortune,or in our case, you can spend any amount of ££££££££££ you like and still be crap.Or going the route Lamps has adopted @ Chelsea, namely give youth a chance, and they are not doing too bad.
But,if you are really lucky, your team will find another Klopp, who knows…….._____________________________

16th December 2019 at 4:19 pm #56826If I was an Arsenal fan I would want someone with a bit more managerial experience than Arteta given who is actually available.
But it could work out.
Arteta will have learnt from working alongside Pep though.
Whoever Arsenal are going to appoint they need to get it done ASAP because Freddie isn’t working.

16th December 2019 at 4:30 pm #56828Arsenal really should go for Ancelotti. Good, proven manager. He won things. Knows how to make a team defend. Knows the PL. He’s been at much bigger clubs than Arsenal (no offence intended) so he’s used to pressure.

16th December 2019 at 5:09 pm #56832I think the big loser here could be Arteta, the job at Arsenal is massive, he has to change players and culture….will he be given time and resources to do that. Plus, what he has to weigh up, given what is in front of him at Arsenal and he fails for whatever reason he will have surely jumped out of the frying pan. I sincerely hope he makes the right decision for himself, not for City, not for Arsenal. No grantees in life but this is a big decision…for Arsenal also,, if they get it wrong…again

16th December 2019 at 6:01 pm #56838Agree with srd, I’d add that Ancelotti I think is quite charismatic and tends to be good at developing spirit in the side. Arsenal need that almost more than anything at the moment!

16th December 2019 at 6:55 pm #56840Mav, I don’t think so, mate.
I can see that aged 60 or so he’s perhaps not the future of management, but he’s hardly a dinosaur either.
He managed some of the biggest clubs (and players) of the world and he’s won titles everywhere but at Napoli, where he still won more than half of the games he managed. He’s unlikely to fold under pressure, and I think that’s something they got by the truckload at Arsenal.
Nagelsmann on the other hand is in his early thirties and have managed Hoffenheim and Leipzig. Even if Leipzig play in the CL he’ll have no idea of the size of the job ahead of him at Arsenal, I think. It could be like Villas Boas at Chelsea years ago.
Of course going for an upcoming and very young manager like him could prove an inspired appointment, but it could also go tits up like Villas Boas who also was the young, tactical prodigy.
I’d go for the experienced option who knows the league. But who knows? Experienced guys with great CV’s fail too sometimes.
One things for sure though, Arsenal can’t afford to hire another dud._____________________________

16th December 2019 at 7:24 pm #56841But would an up and comer even consider the Goonies? They’re already at CL clubs, Goonies don’t look like they’ll even in the EL next year. Looks like Boomerang won’t be coming back (see what I did there?) after his Summer hols, he might even back after his Christmas break, leaving them with what? Laccacazzettee? Ozil? Pepe? Can’t see any Manager leaving a club to go to the Goonies, not unless they’re a Championship manager, so it’s Ancelotti or bust as far as I can see…
