The one thing different for me will be to go to lower league matches on a regular basis, that means the kiss of death for Poole Town ?

9th April 2020 at 8:09 am #94564How about the players behave themselves and the refs get to ref rugby style, taking no BS from anybody?
I know there’s a rule about a yellow for smack-talk that is seemingly ignored by all, but I’m thinking a “sin-bin for gobshite” rule… talk BS and a 10-minute “rest”… (but no card!).

9th April 2020 at 1:55 pm #94576Chuckles, that rule is already in in grass roots footy, dissent gives you a yellow card and period of time in the sin bin (duration dependent on age) do it again and you get a second yellow and back in the sin bin, if you get two sin bins you can’t return to the game but it doesn’t count as a red card so no suspension.
As for no yellow card, dissent is a yellow card offence so go with the same rules as grass roots…..Pagan

9th April 2020 at 2:04 pm #94578Peggy, not aware of that, but I would go along with it.
And fit up the refs with mics/cameras (they’ve got all the gear in rugby so I can’t see how that could even a problem with a small p!). Was watching a brilliant clip on Youtube earlier, and there’s was one clip where a player took a bit of a theatric tumble and the ref blew for the penalty in his favour (as there was illegal contact) before saying “But you were a bit of a tit there, weren’t you? Not good for the game!” and instantly reversed it for “ungentlemanly” conduct.
The other favourite was “Shut up, who’s the referee here? Go away!”… and the player got dragged away before a penalty try was awarded!

Still think the ref’s in footy should be allowed to give peno’s for any serious offence regardless of where it is on the pitch, that would seriously sort out shitty behaviour.

9th April 2020 at 5:26 pm #94589Chuckles, I’ve seen refs carry little cards they give to gobby parents that say “You seem to know a lot about football, how about becoming a referee? Then there’s a web address for the FA learning site to book a refs course.
One lad the start of this season got a bit gobby with my eldest, who just said “if you don’t stop arguing I’ll sin bin you” the lad said “do it then I don’t care” off he went. The players manager asked why he’d been sin binned and was told, the lad came out of the bin and straight onto the bench.
As for penalties from anywhere on the pitch, I totally agree for cynical tackles or diving…..Pagan

9th April 2020 at 6:33 pm #94590What about, when a player fouls player then needs to go off field for the injury to be treated….this in my eyes “gifts” the offending team an extra player, so, my thought would be the offending player has to go off the field for same length of time Keeps game fair and even

Great idea in principle but it took me about half a second to figure out the moment the oppo’s best player tackles somebody, the ‘victim’ will pretend to have a ‘broken leg’, and they’re both of the pitch for an “extended” period of time… it will just give ammo in the form of time-wasting and disrupting forces in the game…

Just reading the amount clubs spent on agents fees, here’s an idea to level the playing field, for every £20m a team spends on a player you get docked 1 point and the same for every £5m you spend in agents fees…..Pagan

13th July 2020 at 4:15 pm #128225It’s been an eye opener to the impact imposed since Lockdown from Covid19. We’ve had Hospitals built in a short space of time and inadvertently, a ‘winter break’ in football that we thought we could not accommodate.
Sure, things have had to be put to a hold and itinerary pushed back, but the one change I would make is a permanent short break for like a ‘half-term’ break to allow players to recharge and recover embedded with a transfer window to allow clubs the opportunity to bring in players.
