I don’t see how Amorum can be considered any better than ETH.. they both have had fairly short careers, both have spent their entire careers in their “local” leagues, both of which aren’t really consider the “premier” leagues in Europe, both haven’t had a great deal of success in Europe…
I can’t see how the end result here would be any different… might be, but I don’t see how.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
I think the world and his dog can see there are issues in the dressing room and I think YooUtd need a manager who has got zero previous connections with YooUtd, and an impressive CV to pin up on the wall, and the balls to say “my way or the highway” and not really give a shit who he upsets in the process…
Granted, not many of those managers about, but one or two….
But Ariston… and on… it’s just dry/rinse/repeat….

1st November 2024 at 12:30 pm #216277Yeah you’re right Ed he plays high line, not sure where I read a low block. But the 3 up front are a striker and two inverted forwards, not no 10s. Hence why I asked where Mount and Fernades will fit, and Zirkee unless he can develop into a false 9 perhaps.
Oh and he often played wingers at wing back for more attcking purpose. Not sure how that would do in the PL, did read a suggestion somewhere of playing Anthony at wing back!

1st November 2024 at 1:27 pm #216281Yeah potentially Zirkzee in one of those positions then Threeps. Still far from convinced about him but I’ve seen glimpses of him playing some good stuff for the Netherlands so we’ll see. Ugarte and Mainoo seems to be the most popular suggestion as a double pivot anyway so no idea where Mount would play.

1st November 2024 at 2:02 pm #216283Bruno will be one of the front three, depending on who you believe he plays a striker, winger and midfielder to run behind in the front three, so I would guess Garnacho, Hojlund and Bruno up top. Mainoo and Ugarte in midfield. Yoro, Martinez and De Ligt as the back three.
Mount can be Bruno’s understudy or sold at a great loss.
Rashford may be out of luck, but can play anywhere in the front three so that will be interesting. Be interesting who he plays on the left when Shaw is injured. Might be Harry Amass, could be a winger hopefully not a right footed fullback as that won’t work. Might be a loan brought in January.

1st November 2024 at 3:14 pm #216284I definitely think Bruno can play in one of those two behind the striker Alfie. Iβm not convinced Garnacho can though as they donβt seem to play wide at all where the width instead comes from the wing backs. Iβm not sure about Garnacho playing inside like that. I think Amad is better suited there

1st November 2024 at 5:07 pm #216286Well guys of Man United on here; New Beginnings and Turning The Page (as a certain Keir Starmer not so long ago said!).
Should be better exciting times ahead. Need to give this new guy a proper opportunity and need to draw a line under past regime and all the problems brought. It’s about trying to find solutions and explore the football world under Amorim. See what he brings you guys.

1st November 2024 at 5:08 pm #216287Ed, I think he likes someone who can run with the ball and take players in there. Bruno isnβt known for that, Garnacho, Rashford and Amad all can. So I think at least one of those will play there. Then itβs either another dribbler or someone to run past Hojlund.
Cannot see Bruno in CM, so itβs a case of who to leave out for me. But I am not an expert on his tactics and it does depend on what article you read about him.

1st November 2024 at 6:11 pm #216291Yup, all I know is he likes to play a back 3. Do not know much about him besides from that.

2nd November 2024 at 7:10 am #216297Gutted that ten hag has gone, I would have given him a ten year contract to really finish the job off! π
Amorim – looked like a decent bet for a premiership team when Liverpool were looking at him – letβs see if he can cope with the added pressure of United. At least he coaches his team to play attacking attractive football

2nd November 2024 at 9:21 am #216303But thats it beni, can he handle the pressure. Its such a massive step up. It just reminds me of avb to chelsea.
Its the most pressurised job in world football at the moment. I think it be to big from gim but as ed has said, you have to be optimistic . I went overboard with some stuff yday Ed chum. Ye its like i really want utd fans to come out and say we are doomed no matter whay!
I was like that for years woth liverpool. I just thought it wad constant rinse and repeat. We tried everything and continued to fail
