1st April 2021 at 1:37 pm #176965Most is press nonsense. How often do we hear about this player going here and that one going there and nothing happens.
City will though sign a striker._____________________________

1st April 2021 at 2:19 pm #176968Why would any Club pay 180m Euros for Haaland this Summer when they can buy him for 100m Euros less in the following Summer?
The meeting between Mino Raiola, Erling Haalandβs father and Joan Laporta has been positive. It was the first contact to discuss about the new Barcelona project – obviously thereβs nothing done or advanced, race will be long as many clubs are involved… ?

I’m not sure it’s as simple as that Nine. Otherwise, you could say “why ever pay a transfer fee for anyone when they’ll be out of contract in x years?”. The group of clubs who can buy Haaland next summer is much, much bigger.
So, clubs which are less affected by the pandemic could look to take advantage of the fact there will be less competition this summer for Haaland for the very reason that he’s more gettable next summer.

Agreed. Those with genuine money will have a big advantage. They will be able to ride the pandemic. Also given the demise of UFFP there will be one or two very big deals in the summer l_____________________________

1st April 2021 at 6:35 pm #176976Sounds like Raoila is doing a tour of Europe to start a bidding war. Raiola will do absolutely everything in his power to make the move happen this summer as it means more money for him.
Mino Raiola is meeting with Real Madrid after Barcelona and the plan for #Haaland is so clear: talk with 5 top clubs interested, their projects, proposals and then decide for the future. Itβll be a long race.
BVB position: wonβt accept less than β¬150m to sell him this summer. https://t.co/U6D8TyobWS

1st April 2021 at 6:37 pm #176977Also note the fee Romano mentions. 150mil Eur is just short of Β£130mil. A lot of money in the middle of a pandemic but less than what Coutiinho went for. Fees will get back to normal before long. Now is the time to move if clubs can afford it.

1st April 2021 at 6:42 pm #176978Β£130mil over a 6 Yr contract is Β£20mil a year as far as FFP is concerned. Most top clubs can generate that in sales of academy/surplus players each season without any trouble.

1st April 2021 at 7:52 pm #176979Youβd think BVB would renegotiate his contract, give him Β£5m a year extra to up the current buy out clause……Pagan

1st April 2021 at 8:28 pm #176980The thing is though Ed it’s not X years it’s next Summer that could save a Club circa 100m Euros imo that looks like awfully bad business to me but football Clubs doing bad business has never bothered them.
There’s probably only 6/7 Clubs who would be tempted to pay that sort of money and pay a circa 100m premium to get Haaland a year earlier and at least two of those will need to sell players to do so and Barca would be one of those.
Selling players Clubs no longer want will be a tough call imo next Summer if that’s what Clubs need to do. Seemingly FFP is about all but disappear which will give Clubs with rich owners an advantage especially whilst this pandemic hangs around all per Adlab’s post

1st April 2021 at 8:53 pm #176981Nine, my point is that it’s only bad business if you can definitely get him now for 130mil AND definitely can get him next season for 65mil. That is indeed bad business.
But if getting him this season ensures you get him, in turn preventing potentially missing out next summer AND preventing your rival potentially getting him for a bargain fee next season, then there is an argument that those that can afford him this summer can’t afford to not try.

1st April 2021 at 9:52 pm #176982Ed/Nine…my view is…..but where is that kind of money coming from?
City..may have it but will not like to offer that amount
Utd…will always find the money!!!
Chelsea. No
Arsenal…No
Barcelona….would have to let Messi and others go and one player will not make the team they once had, they need more
R.Madrid. same as Barca really. where is the money coming from?
PSG. Possible if they sell at least two star players
I think money is tight for all clubs with loss of revenues this season, that will take some clawing back
In Haarlands case it is just a matter of who will pay for him not who he wants to play for. Deaspite what I have said I think he will finish at Barcelona

1st April 2021 at 10:18 pm #176984Ed completely agree re haaland situation,
for me it will likely end up with haaland staying for one more year then playing all the top teams against each other for best deal for himself next year, his agent will be minted either way.
For dortmund its a question of how much his goals are worth to them next season, could easily be difference between qualifying for champions league or not, how much is that worth? add it to the release clause and thats the price they could rightly demand in summer.
Nine, I know what you are saying but only applies if there is more than one haaland up for grabs, there is just one. I don’t think we will get him but if we do it will be this summer if we take advantage like Ed says and try our luck, few can afford him this summer, real and barca will snap him up next summer.
Its probably a bit stupid for me to be even posting about chelsea potentially getting haaland though its so unlikely but so worth going all out for this summer

1st April 2021 at 11:20 pm #176986Brian, Roman has the money without selling anyone and allegedly is looking to spend big again this Summer but I don’t think Chelsea will get him although he could be the missing part of the jigsaw for them.
I don’t think Messi will leave now Laporta is President.
There’s likely to be no FFP next season which makes City and PSG favourites, what a front three Mbappe, Haaland and Neymar would be.π
Both Real and Barca would need to sell players to buy him which won’t be easy.
You can’t rule United out but would the Glazers sanction that level of spend when they wouldn’t sanction Sancho at much less and they have problems with Raiola.
Kroenke would never sanction such a spend at Arsenal

2nd April 2021 at 10:32 am #176989Nine…if you believe in this morning media Chelsea will go after Augerro. Which also means if, as you say Messi will stay at Barca, I would have thought that would have been his likely destination and he will cost consideably less than Harland, Mpaabe and Neymor and still score goals

2nd April 2021 at 10:36 am #176990If I was any club manager in charger of transfers I would not deal with Raiola . Are there any straight forward transfers with him? Are there any players who actually settle with him at one club before he wants to move them on?
