27th June 2018 at 5:14 pm #23227Mav, my mistake it’s actually a two year ban but I’m sure AC Milan have the right of appeal and could even go to CAS and both City and PSG got their fines reduced on appeal.

27th June 2018 at 6:45 pm #23235I agree Jim everyone knows the rules and what can happen if you break them, Not sure whether Milan are the first club certainly they are the first major club to pick up a ban which you think would probably be reduced to 1 year on appeal.

28th June 2018 at 8:15 am #23247Mav, the official UEFA statement, you can see where the confusion emanates from.?
“The Adjudicatory Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB), chaired by José Narciso da Cunha Rodrigues, has taken a decision in the case of the club AC Milan that had been referred to it by the CFCB Chief Investigator for the breach of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations, in particular the break-even requirement.
The club is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify in the next two (2) seasons (i.e. one competition in 2018/19 or 2019/20, subject to qualification).
This decision may be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, in accordance with Article 34(2) of the Procedural rules governing the UEFA Club Financial Control Body, as well as Articles 62 and 63 of the UEFA Statutes.”
The full reasoned decision will be published on UEFA.com in due course.

1st July 2018 at 5:02 pm #23392C Milan are targeting a move for a marquee striker this summer as they look to continue their squad overhaul, a report claims.
According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan director Massimo Mirabelli has set his sights on signing a 20-goal-a-season striker in the transfer window.
The Serie A giants recently received a one-year ban from European competitions for breaking UEFA’s Financial Fair Play guidelines.
However, the Rossoneri seem intent on following up last summer’s work in the transfer market, in which they signed 11 players including Leonardo Bonucci, Hakan Calhanoglu and Andre Silva.
The priority for Milan to improve their attack is reported Spurs target Ciro Immobile, who scored the joint-most goals in Serie A last season.
The Lazio star carries a €60m price tag, though recent reports have suggested that the San Siro club have agreed personal terms with the former Torino man already.
Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata is also being considered by Milan, but the Blues would likely want to recoup all of the £60m they paid Real Madrid for the Spaniard last summer.
Reported Liverpool and Manchester United target Timo Werner is also on Milan’s list, though the Leipzig star would apparently cost £90m.
Finally, Colombia star Radamel Falcao is also touted as a possible option for Gennaro Gattuso’s side, with rumours that a swap deal involving Andre Silva could be explored.

20th July 2018 at 11:29 am #24241Anonymousban overturned by CAS. makes a mockery of FFP. why should teams bother sticking to it when the punishment is so ridiculous.

20th July 2018 at 1:23 pm #24243Seemed a bit too harsh from UEFA imo. CAS have sent it back to UEFA and asked them to come up with a more appropriate punishment. Possibly a fine/squad reduction as per the City and PSG punishments previously handed out by UEFA? Embarrassing for UEFA though.

30th July 2018 at 9:52 am #24651Benni, I’m assuming that was aimed at me your silly digs usually are.
It was news a month ago and worthy of debate at a time when there were suggestions that FFP was effectively dead.
CAS turned the ban over which was the correct decision imo based on previous punishments. A fine and a reduced EL squad look most likely now.
Do you have any objective views on AC Milan’s original ban and CAS turning it over?
