It was an idea, Nine. Okay fine.
I was showing some optimism on the back of an article, not something ‘I’ just plucked out of thin air.
We couldn’t sign Reus in 2014 for other reasons and now we can’t sign him because of his injuries yet people will point out the loss of Coutinho and I bet you my bottom dollar particularly on this forum, Teamtalk and the media, collectively will all try to unsettle Mo Salah.

22nd March 2018 at 10:46 am #18542Nil, you’ve got to try and be a bit less sensitive mate any one of us putting a post up here does so on the understanding that’s it’s a football site and open to debate.
No one has a negative agenda towards Liverpool and all club’s accumulate comments on here both good and bad and if you add them up I think you will find the positive comments on Liverpool this season far outweigh the negative ones I’m on record for instance as saying that Liverpool are one of my favourite teams to watch.
I haven’t said that anyone can’t sign Reus firstly he’s a great player but his career certainly of late has been blighted by injury and that can’t be ignored when talking of him signing for anyone.
Of course after such a great season their will be a lot of conjecture about Salah as there has been about Harry Kane to Real for a couple of seasons and Hazard to Real currently nobody wants to lose their best players to the top Spanish club’s but sensibly we all have to acknowledge that Real and Barca are special clubs and particularly attractive to South American players.
Personally I don’t think anyone will move for Salah this season given he will probably cost circa £200m and the Super clubs will want to analyse what he does in his second season at Liverpool to see whether he can hit similar heights if he does then they may put pressure on Liverpool next Summer. Chill buddie it’s only a game. Cheers 999

22nd March 2018 at 11:35 am #18549Nine, ok mate, fair dos and thanks for your reply.
I think in relation to Salah, Chucky and Nine, this is probably the time for FSG to stamp their authority with a lucrative contract and a very high weekly wage if they are to hold onto their player.
The agent of the modern game sadly is our demon.
I accept this is what a few clubs out there are up against, but for years now, I have seen us reach a level, then we lost a few of our best players, and then it all blows to pieces. Another new manager comes in, and it’s the same cycle over again. We’re not winning trophies and then we drift away too further from the ‘elite’ teams in Europe.

22nd March 2018 at 4:04 pm #18582A whole club could be bought for a lesser amount.
Yep Pax, I think unfortunately, that’s going to be the way forward. I don’t particularly like the ideology of it myself and the bubble-burst is very much around the corner.
But I think we’re going to see FSG go firm on this one and with full force of business acumen. ‘Moneyball’ could be coming to an end 🙂 🙂

22nd March 2018 at 6:56 pm #18590Paxton, circa £200m is what’s being kicked around in the media for Salah.
I don’t think any of the Super club’s would pay that for Salah based on just one season at Liverpool but if he repeats this seasons exploits next season then I think there’s every chance they will make a move for Salah at around that price.
