1st May 2022 at 6:37 am #195771Big game later today Everton v Chelsea. How desperate are they now with Burnley getting 3 points at Watford?
Separate issue, has the Editor or anyone else any news on how 999 is after his operation? We were hoping, from his comments back on the 4th April on the other site, that he would be back within a week or two. Its now 4 weeks and finding it a little worrying that we have heard nothing. Cheers guys 🙂

1st May 2022 at 11:32 am #195772I echo C67’s thoughts on Nine. Ed, have you heard anything from him? It’s been about a month which is a long time as I’ve known Nine to consistently post for years. I really hope he is ok.
Everton are in a serious situation fighting relegation and they really need something today. They’ve got hard games whoever they face I believe. The one slight thing in their favour against other teams is the amount of games and they have more, so maybe there is hope.

1st May 2022 at 12:50 pm #195777Celtic 1 up. This is Rangers’ one last hope. Game Over if they blow this. Even a draw isn’t enough. They need to win.
Elsewhere, really please with how well Nottingham Forest have done in the Championship. Truly remarkable. They have a massive game against Bournemouth on Tuesday which could see them leapfrog the Cherries into Automatic Promotion places.
Personally, it would be nice to see new and different teams join the Prem to make the league more competitive and interesting.

2nd May 2022 at 11:16 am #195781Adlab…for me, and I suspect the club, the PL will always be more important. The CL is just a trophy players would like on there CV, very nice but I have also said to win the PL over 38 games you are a Champion and since the EPL is the best league in the world that makes it more worthwhile. All about opinion and that is mine.

2nd May 2022 at 12:07 pm #195782That’s the one trophy Man City want to win and for Liverpool, it’s the League Title. What a parallel.
They are both hard trophies though I think for Pool, the Cup comp suits them a little better.
Personally I was glad of the away goals rule going. Recent history to be fair has shown just how far the English Clubs have come. A clear correlation and common ground also proves the established of Man City and Liverpool holding on to their manager and essentially investing time in development of a squad.

2nd May 2022 at 4:33 pm #195783Nike..I think you are right about the Managers although I am not so sure Pep will stay much longer, however both Pep and Klopp know that there are no better jobs out there and a league that gets more fascinating by the season. They my have personal issues eventually outside football but they would be hard to replace but at least they have put foundations down. I know that Jurgen has just signed again but somewhere in the fine print will be a leaving clause. I hope not because both Managers have made the EPL more than any other Managers. We are both very fortunate enough to have them. IF we loose to morrow it will be bad news for you because City will not want to loose again and finish with nothing…it could happen, nevertheless I have enjoyed the season and what they have brought to it. I believe Liverpool can win the lot, it would be a remarkable achievement but not impossible. I really want us to beat RM though, just because they are so anti City

2nd May 2022 at 7:35 pm #195784United v Brentford tonight.
I wonder, given the circumstances, how many United fans would have preferred to stay with Olé until the end of the season.
I think they have gone backwards since Rangnick._____________________________

2nd May 2022 at 8:03 pm #195785I wonder how Conte would have done with them. Probably would have given him a heart attack with frustration.

2nd May 2022 at 9:50 pm #195787Conte was never going to take an interim job Mikus and he just didn’t fit the profile of manager they wanted in the new setup. We have some of the best young players in the country vying to extend their record in the FA Youth Cup final soon who would be wasted under Conte who, like Mourinho, prefers ready made signings.
As for Rangnick, he has been neither the problem nor the solution in my view. Ole staying was never going to be any better. You can’t keep your job after those City and Liverpool games at OT. Sends out all the wrong messages. All about next season now. Long road ahead. Massive risk on Ten Hag so fingers crossed it pays off.

2nd May 2022 at 10:41 pm #195788No, I know Ed. Just a hypothetical. What would you do with Ronaldo just out of interest? I know you’d think he wouldn’t want to potentially play a bit part next season, but 18 goals scored this season. That won’t be replaced easily.

2nd May 2022 at 10:49 pm #195789I’d happily see him go but I wouldn’t be too fussed if he stays. We can’t be relying on a 38yr old so maybe best to start fresh without him next season. The big argument for keeping him, assuming he wants to stay, is that we’re already 4 strikers down with Cavani going, Rashford’s nosedive in form, Greenwood’s antics and Martial probably going. Not sure we can buy the number of players we’d need to replace all them and all the other players leaving.
