6th May 2022 at 8:02 am #195857Just to say in addition to the above about heart etc etc you need a lot of luck to win a cup.
FA CUP semi. We had to make 7 changes. CL quarters and semi. Two horrid Madrid teams. Its nobody’s fault but I just compare with others.Still furious and for me the season IS over

6th May 2022 at 11:58 am #195858City have had their fair muck in draws over the years adlab. Madrid tie should have been over in the first leg. No one to blame at all.
City were 2-0 up sfyet ten min v Madrid. Mahrez goes through and shoots instead of passing. Pep was furious. It’s things like that.
City team is worth a billion pounds. They have the best of everything. They should be winning almost everything in sight
Next season they will get halland for how ever much he costs. It’s what city do and I’m not saying that having a go. That’s just the truth

6th May 2022 at 12:56 pm #195859As Simon Jordan said recently, Pep is hellbent on his philosophy and won’t change or adapt. Over the course of a season, that creates great consistency and is a big part of their success in winning the domestic leagues as Foxy said. However, they lack that adaptation and togetherness in a big game. Maybe that seems harsh, but such traits are highlighted when the margins become fine. Pep is very narrowly missing out on winning the CL over recent years, and Klopp is very narrowly missing out on the league for several seasons. Pep is a master of consistency, Klopp a master of mentality. You’re seeing that play out in the fact that Pep is succeeding in the league more, Klopp in the CL more.

6th May 2022 at 1:08 pm #195860You’re better off in the league if you win one and lose one (3 points) rather than drawing two games (2 points) creating a 1 point gap – and there’s the gap between the top two sides.

6th May 2022 at 5:55 pm #195862Pep’s a relentless driving force, a machine. That’s what he’s channeled into Man City during his tenure. I’m not sure what we would see have seen with his predecessors in Pellegrini and Mancini if they were in their heyday inheriting this current squad.
Probably a moot point. We can’t dismiss the void of Aguero too. You need a big moment player.
Klopp has turned out to be tailor-made for Liverpool for his spirit, passion and tenacity. I sometimes wonder if we had Rodri, Debryne and Dias or La Porte whether that would make us as good as invincible.
I watched just out of curiosity the Amazon documentary and City’s expectations are to win the League. There is no mention of the Champions League so from that point of view, there shouldn’t be excessive pressure on Pep. I’d imagine, they’ll try for a top dog Striker in the summer. Whether or not that would fix it alone is questionable, but sometimes it’s worth taking a bit of a step back and think the amount of trophies the club has achieved over the last 10 years.

6th May 2022 at 6:39 pm #195863Sean…does that not illustrate the point…it is not the money that wins and should have can be replaced by. “next time”. What happens on the pitch is what matters from 11 players no matter what the costs is. When anyone talks of the costs it relative to others who are also spending almost as much and what about the costs paid by say the top 6 against the bottom 6. that is a huge gap. is that unfair also. Sean, I am not saying that City do have an advantage but if it was not City..who would be next to have an advantage. Equality in ownership and financial management is the biggest issue, however I do not prescribe that money wins everything. I appreciate the point you are making but there are many other factors in getting a result as well. Cheers my friend. Liverpool for CL

6th May 2022 at 7:10 pm #195864Nike..good post. It is the media wanting to fulfil a story that does not exist, it happens to many clubs and they look for the any event that will trigger this. The point I try to figure out is …what makes them so expert? They give personal opinions just like all of us but they expect all to swallow there reasoning..it is a one way system I wonder if some actually go to a match. As to the.” experts” imagine you and I sitting at a table talking football and getting there salaries, why do we need them? Why do owe need so many?
As to Pep and Jurgen…here we are with the world best two, creating wonderful football teams which are good to watch week in. week out. neither are perfect but they are nearly as anyone else will get this era Both will make mistakes, both will serve up different styles are what fans want from a team. I have had my Friday moan now, Hope you win to morrow and we win on Sunday. no doubt some good chip paper will be made!!! Pelligini was a good Manager, Mancini was a good manager but not in Peps class_____________________________

6th May 2022 at 7:49 pm #195866Brian, completely agree. Unfortunately, this is the crazy world we live in. The media will slant more towards the negative aspect of an outcome forming a critique which unearths talking points and column inches. They earn their living that way.
Personally, I’ll be able to take so much in like a sponge, then switch off and take a step back. It can get toxic and eat you away.
To try and sustain a high level of consistency is tough. The culture of football has changed, in fact when it comes to our main league, it’s a different facet to what it used to be with so much money at stake. This attracts a greater level of interest and attention. We know ultimately how that particular industry operates and best to take very little notice.
We were talking moments away, and Man City being very close to the finishing line. It will happen in my reckoning. More sooner than later.

7th May 2022 at 9:28 am #195871Nike. Thanks but I am still furious and I really don’t care about the rest of this season win or lose. We have tossed off a great chance and handed it to you guys. I am not at all forgiving on this one,
In the papers today it is suggested we might be interested in Pogba. Heaven help us.

7th May 2022 at 10:36 am #195872Bro an I totally get it mate but unfortunately money will always pop up when it is city. If city don’t win the cl under pep,the constant scrutiny will keep happening
Pep is getting a bit of stick about Wednesday night but I don’t think he did anything wrong at all. City took Kdb off but then took the lead. Wednesday was a freak result. It really was but that’s Real Madrid fir you this season aswell.
I really didn’t want to play city. It’s the European cup so I always like to avoid all English ties and city are still the best in Europe for me.
We owe Real Madrid one. People are giving Salah stick as he said he wanted to play them but no real mention of Madrid wearing number 14 shirts after the city game. Hugely disrespectful to Liverpool. Real may well beat us as the gods seem to be with them. They should have been dead and buried games ago

13th May 2022 at 7:42 pm #196073UNBELIEVABLE
Manchester City have been fined 14,000 euros (£11,910) for the “improper conduct of the team” during the Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid last month.City qualified for the last four after a goalless quarter-final second leg.
Atletico defender Felipe’s sending-off after a foul on Phil Foden sparked a confrontation involving both sets of players and coaching staff.
The disciplinary committee of governing body Uefa has not punished Atletico.
During the incident former City defender Stefan Savic appeared to pull Jack Grealish’s hair before confronting the England forward after the game.
Atletico had been ordered to close part of their stadium prior to City’s
